Micah 6:8 prison ministries was founded in 2016 by Chaplain Jerry Smith with the help and results of other volunteer state and federal chaplains.
Jerry has worked with men in prison and those returning from prison since 1991. He is a volunteer chaplain at the federal prison in Seattle.
In early 2019 a transitional house for faith-based prisoners was purchased by Micah House and is maintained by the residents. Micah house began operating in Eastsound, Washington. The home can house up to 6 men with a goal of integrating into their local community within 4 months by obtaining employment, contributing to volunteer acts of service, supporting local church congregations and growing in Christ. There is an application process and acceptance is based on availability and the other members of the Micah 6:8 house council.
The transitional house is approved by the Washington Department of Corrections.
